When I lived in St. Andrews, NB, I was astonished to hear a hard buzz, and discover hummingbirds raiding the flowers on the landing on the outside stairs to my upstairs apartment! Haven't seen any in this ARID Calgary....

I always feel rich, for having seen a hummingbird. Like spotting a faerie or leprechaun.
Thanks, Julie!

(I took the bait and responded!)my favourite summer place is anywhere outside that has a garden/nature or a beach!!! Actually more garden and more beach, WAY less people and lots of hot weather..it has to be warm and sunny which in BC on the coast is iffy at best...
I have a hammock too, and 2 recliners: one's turquoise the other one is deep yellow and my hammock is deep yellow; as you can tell I love colours and I saw my first hummingbird of the year in my garden yesterday.(twice!)
I also look forward to reading your books, too! (and watching clouds)~Julie Northey

I love the picture of you in a hammock. I wish I had one, but don't have much room in my small yard. I love to read, though. I like to leave comments on blogs. I will now go and read the rest of yours.

Yes, you definitely need pictures - glad you're accommodating. Otherwise, how would we know who you really are?

My favorite summer place is in a not cold lake with a smooth rock bottom, the sun glinting through the water turning the rocky bottom muted gold, and then, as I swim farther out, turning my splash into showers of diamond.

1. Single-handedly breaking down the Canadian reputation! Yes!

2. When we built our "new" deck four years ago, we designed it with the supporting posts standing tall. (It didn't need sides; it's only fifteen inches or so off the ground.) We drilled holes right through the posts, and put big rings in them...with the purpose of taking only seconds to hang a hammock! So even though I am really busy, I do make time, every summer day that it's not raining, to spend some in the hammock. It is my absolutely favourite place. I also get up at about 5 a.m. to write, quite regularly. So by the time afternoon hits, I'm wiped, and I like a lie-down.

3. Yes, it's posed (oh how I HATE having my picture taken! I do it because I've had to become convinced that I should...) but I went through my shelves looking for a book I've read and loved more than once, and to me (who hates pictures...) it doesn't feel posed because it is actually how I spend time.

4. A laptop would definitely defeat the purpose. Okay, next time I'll pose with a Books Only sign!

1. Commenting.

2. Wondering how you possibly spend any time in a hammock, with all the other things going on in your life.

3. Betting that this photo was posed.

4. Wondering if it would defeat the purpose to combine hammock and laptop?
